Madeline - Soccer

When we moved into our neighborhood, the girls who are
Madeline's age invited her to play on their soccer team.
We are so glad they did!
It was so fun and really helped Madeline meet some new friends.

The games were at Centerville Junior High School and they have some great
climbing trees that just couldn't be passed up.

Madeline learned all about teamwork, being aggressive, and
having fun.  It was a great experience.

We all went and spent our Saturday mornings supporting Madeline.
It was a good time!

Grandma Terri even got in on the action!

Adventures in the life of Jonas

Just a few stories about Jonas over the past few months...

Stake Conference is always exciting and nerve wracking when you have four small children.
I almost never know what the outcome might be.  Jonas was especially wiggly this time around.  Actually, all of the kids were especially wiggly.  Looking back, I should have known we
were doomed from the beginning.
At one point, Jimmy had to take someone out and I was left with a few kids.
When I turned my attention for a second Jonas snuck off and started to climb up the back
of another person's chair.  When I say climb up, I mean proceeded to climb on the head
of the poor man.  When I finally (without causing a scene) got him back to our seat I put him on my lap and offered fruit snacks.  Apparently that was not a good choice on my part.  He took the fruit snacks, which were opened, from my hand and threw them into the air.  Fruit snacks went flying in every direction.  Jonas then slid on his belly across this divider thing.  It was pretty disruptive.
I signaled to Jimmy that we had to get out of there. I grabbed Jonas by the hand while
wrestling with all of the "keep them busy" supplies and we started to walk out of the
Bountiful Regional Center.  It's big..full of people.  Jonas then started screaming at the top of
his lungs, "YOU ARE HURTING ME!!!"  I wasn't.  But all of those eyes probably thought I was.
We got to the car and drove home.  I told my children we were never making cookies again. Ever.
We made them that night.  I'm a sucker.

I was called to work in the library in our ward.  Our kids love to come and visit me.  Sometimes they like to come and stay instead of going to Primary.  We were having one of those days with Jonas and so he was helping me out in the library until I could get him to return to Primary.  I turned my attention to the person at the counter and when I turned back around Jonas was climbing the bookcase.  Unfortunately the shelved weren't secured in and 5 or 6 shelves came crashing down along with books and videos, pamphlets and my Jonas.  It was quite the sight and quite the excitement for a Sunday morning.

Apparently my son is afraid of flies.  We were driving home from a splash pad and Jonas started screaming at the top of his lungs.  It scared me and when I looked in the rear view mirror, his eyes had a look of pure terror in them.  I quickly pulled over went to the back of the car, calmed him down and he started shouting, "BEE!"  I reassured him that it wasn't a bee, but a fly and that flies don't hurt us.  He calmed down said okay and was fine, or so I thought.  I got on the freeway and the screaming started again, but this time in between screams he would yell, "IT KEEPS COMING TO GET ME!! ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS!"  I thought the poor kid was going to hyperventilate.  Madeline started crying because the commotion was too much.  Lucas had his ears plugged and his head on his lap.  Gunnar just enjoyed the show.  We rolled down the windows and waited.  I couldn't stop laughing because the scene was so ridiculously funny.  Madeline caught me laughing and joined in.  We drove home on the freeway with the wind whipping our hair because Jonas was afraid of being eaten by a fly.  Madeline told him to say, "shoo fly, shoo" and wave his arms.  He finally caught on and did it until he fell sound asleep.  When we got home, I woke him up to take him in the house and the poor boy woke up saying, "shoo fly shoo!"

We love our little Jonas.

Jonas turns 3!

Jonas turned 3 this year.
Sometimes I forget that he is just 3 years old.
He's so tall and so smart and just seems so much older than 3!

Life with this boy is an adventure.
He has no fear. He is adventurous and loud. He is a rough
and tumble kind of boy. He loves to play, climb, jump, and explore.
He loves his brothers and sister. He loves to be involved and included when they
play. He also loves his cousin Noah.  They have become such buddies this year and every
time we tell him Noah is coming over he gets just as excited as the first time.

Jonas has a great imagination. He can play for hours.
He is a bottomless pit. This boy can eat and eat and eat.
He is funny and loves to make people laugh.
He is also very mischievous.
Noah and Jonas

Jonas can amazingly make a mess with absolutely
everything he eats. He almost always has a dirty face.
It's pretty funny.
He is lively, fun, kind and energetic.
When he isn't feeling well it is not hard to tell.
His eyes sparkle and his smiles are contagious.

We had a birthday party on Halloween with some of the cousins.
On his actual birthday, we had our birthday pancakes.

Leftover cake.
And dinner and ice cream with the other North Salt Lake Isaksons and
Grandma Terri and Aunt Nat.
Happy Birthday Jono Bug.
We love you to pieces!

Fall 2014 Recap

I thought for sure life was going to slow down and that I was going
to be on top of keeping the blog updated.
It didn't.  Life has been so busy this year and so here I am doing a recap of
fall 2014 as we are in the final months of summer 2015.

One day. I will be caught up.

We had such a fun fall last year.  We
spent a whole lot of time together as a family as well as with
cousins and friends.

We had some fun family home evenings.
One night we dressed up like night ninjas and "booed" some
of our neighbors.  We left them some yummy treats on their doorsteps
and ran away into the night.  It was a lot of fun.

We went to Boondocks and played games and the kids tried
their first round of laser tag.  It was awesome!  They loved it!
We went on a couple of visits to the University of Utah's
Dinosaur museum.  Lucas and Jonas LOVED it.

I grabbed some fall leaves from the mountains in Tabiona
to keep at our house.  They made me smile every time I looked at them.
I loved having a small piece of a place I love so much in our home.
There was a fun fall festival at Madeline's school.
There were rides and people dressed up in costumes, face painting and more.
Fun was had by all!

We made a lot of s'mores in our backyard fire pit.
This became something the kids really looked forward to.
Sometimes we were even lucky enough to have cousins come over and make them
with us!

Abbey, Madeline, Chloe, Jimmy, Jonas, Lucas

When we were really lucky, Grandma Terri would join us.
Baby Gunnar even got in on the action once in a while.

Sometimes we would do it late at night and pull out the finger
lights...that makes it a whole different kind of party.

Lucas had a little run in with the corner of the television and
sported a nice black eye for a few days.

We became secret service agents, complete with disguises and did
kind acts of service for each other.

We planted a garden and grew so many delicious tomatoes and
yellow squash.  It was amazing!

It was a pretty fantastic fall.  Full of fun things !
