And the game continues....

This is just for my friend Krisit (yes I mean Krisit) at her request here are six weird things about Jimmy and myself and six things that make us happy. I hope you're ready for this.

Jimmy's weird ones
1. Jimmy loves to stick things up his nose (this includes drawstrings on his shorts, pens, blades of grass, rolled up pieces of paper, paper clips just to name a few). He does this for the pure sensation of sneezing. He loves the feeling and can't get enough of it. I have frequently caught him doing this.

HUUUUUUUCHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO!!

2. When Jimmy falls asleep his eyes stay open. I don't know how he does it but sometimes it can be freaky.

3. This is a new one, Jimmy lets our puppy drink water out of his mouth. Literally stick his whole entire head in his mouth and if that's not weird enough...he enjoys it.

4. Jimmy fidgits. It takes him foooorever to get comfortable before he can fall asleep. Usually he starts off with a pillow, and then five minutes later the pillow ALWAYS goes to the foot of the bed or to his side and he never uses it to sleep on. He shifts his hips, moves his legs, adjusts his arms, pulls the covers on and then takes them off until he finally reaches the perfect resting positon. (Which in my opinion is no different than the position he started out in...hee hee) Oh, and then when he does fall asleep, he fidgits again. He's definitely a fidgiter.

5. Movies are a passion for Jimmy. Do not attempt to fall asleep, look away too long or temporarily divert your attention from a movie when watching with Jimmy. It is a BIG deal. It is offensive and just plain unacceptable. He will rewind and make sure you are awake every five seconds if he has to. Ha, something that he has to do with me if we watch movies late at night. I'm a terrible night movie watcher. He loves movies and loves for those he loves to love them as much as he does. Something I am definitely getting better at.

6. Jimmy hates mushrooms (something that is unheard of in my family) he will pick out even the tiniest specks of mushroom (ex. cream of mushroom soup) The smell makes him naseous and he has warned me that he will throw up if I eat them in his presence. (You know how I love those mushrooms Krisit!!)

Jimmy's Happy Six
1. Watching, listening to, hearing about, attending, imagining, you name it University of Utah athletics.

2. Movies, movies, movies. He loves to watch them on t.v., in the theater, at the drive-in, on an airplane...anywhere, anytime, any movie.

3. Music. Jimmy loves music. His music, music he has chosen. He will spend hours organizing his playlists until they are perfectly arranged. Don't even try to sneak any country music in there.

4. The office. He loves the t.v. show the office. It is the highlight of his Thursday. He looks forward to it all day long and gets so excited about it. He made me watch the first and second seasons so that I could be caught up and current to watch season three with him. It is a Thursday night ritual.

5. Animals, animals, animals. He loves animals. His favorite animal of all time is Buzz (his boyhood schnauzer). However Boo is giving Buzz a run for his money. He loves all animals including those on animal planet (channel 56).

6. His beautiful wife Melissa Anne (these words are from his mouth...not me trying to flatter myself.) This blessing from above is the only thing of which he loves to sing all day long (that is the truth!) The food she makes, her big smile, her tight hugs, and especially that she loves me too.

A few more because we had a hard time narrowing down the happy ones: his nieces and nephews, his family, playing sports, reading, candy, candy, candy. So many things.

Missy's weird ones
1. I slobber. I'm a slobberer. I have overactive saliva glands (at least that's what I'm telling you)which cause me to slobber. Ha ha. How embarassing. I slobber when I'm in a deep sleep and sometimes when I'm not. Disgusting I know but I can't help it.

2. I wake up very abruptly all the time (this is according to Jimmy) to say things or ask questions. Things such as I love you Jimmy or what time is it???

3. I have double jointed elbows or maybe they're just deformed. My husband just said "and they're gross." They are pretty gross. I can put them straight and it looks like my hands are on backwards.

And there it is, my lovely elbow sideways. See, it's not that bad.

4. I have the worst stomach in the whole world. In an instant I can be fine and in the next I will need to ruuuun to the bathroom and I mean run, run, run. Just ask Jimmy about our trip home from New York.

5. I can pull the ugliest faces. My face is sooo flexible and can move in every direction. Jimmy loves it and makes me pull faces all the time and then tells me how ugly they were. He likes me to ask him to kiss me while pulling an ugly face and then he just laughs. Homemade entertainment on my very own face.

6. I like to make funny voices. I don't know why but I like to sing in funny voices, leave messages in funny voices...you name it and I think it's funny. That's weird right? I think it has something to do with Kim and Brooke. Didn't we do that all the time? Or maybe I'm making this up. I left Jimmy a voicemail once as a Librarian and once as a milkman...he kept them and listens to them every once in a while...at least he thinks they're funny. ha ha.

Missy's happy six
1. Jimmy. I love Jimmy and everything about him makes me sooo happy. His hugs and his kisses make me so happy and when he sings his "I love my wife" song so loud and hard that he shakes it makes me happy. Just everything about him brings happiness into my life.

2. Stars, the sunset, pretty much the sky but mostly the stars. I love summer nights when the stars are out. I could stare at them for hours. I think they are so beautiful and it just makes me feel so happy and thankful.

3. Family. I love family. Family get-togethers are the best. I love seeing my nieces and nephews and their great big hugs. I love it when they cry because they don't want you to go (awful I know..but I do ha ha) I love my mom and her voice and when she is happy and smiling. I just plain love my family. They are so wonderful.

4. My puppy Boo makes me super happy. I love coming home to a puppy that is so excited to see me that he can hardly contain his excitement. I love it when he nestles up under my chin and gives me stinky puppy breath kisses.

5. The gospel. I don't know how anything else could make me happy without the gospel.

6. Rainy days, chocolate, warm socks, big blankets, phone calls, letters, visits from friends or loved ones, hot chocolate with whipped cream on top, comfy sweatshirts, good hair days and hairstylists, vacations, kindness, writing in my journal, gain laundry detergent (it smells sooo good). The list goes on...there are a lot of things that make me happy!

LIfe in Alabama is going on as usual. There is something that is very distinctively different in Alabama from Utah. Instead of LDS chapels on every corner you have every kind of church you could imagine right next to each other, across the street you name it. We have noticed that it is really popular to have big flashy signs outside. The ones that have letters you can change. The bigger the better. Here are some of our favorite sayings: "Those who throw dirt lose ground." "Don't get burned, use "Son" block" "You can't be a skunk without others eventually catching wind." The list goes on. One of the highlights of driving through town is reading the new messages on the signs. The weather has been heating up the past few days. I'm getting excited about 70 degree mornings. Yahoo! I love having a semi-summer in the middle of February! Things are just plain wonderful.

Jimmy had his knee surgery on the 8th. Before he went in for surgery he had to use the restroom (keep in mind he was a little drugged) he climbed off of his bed and went into the restroom and then came back out...I think he forgot that he was wearing a hospital gown because his buns were peeking out and on display for the whole world to view. I had a good laugh as I tried to cover him up. His surgery was about 3 1/2 to 4 hours long. Much longer than we anticipated. However, everything went really well. The surgeon said that there was more damage than they anticipated but that everything repaired nicely. I was a little worried after surgery because he was in so much pain but he got through it and is on his way up. Because of the miniscal damage Jimmy can't put any weight on his leg for 6 weeks. Right now he uses crutches or just hops around. He has started physical therapy and hopefully he'll have the movement back in his leg in no time. He's hanging in there and doing a fantastic job potty training our pup. He has also spent some serious time and dedication learning how to play the guitar. Make sure you ask him about it...if you're lucky he'll play you a song.

As for the pup...Boo is growing like a weed. It's amazing how quickly he is growing and yet we hardly realize it. He is getting more curious and will snoop into everything that he shouldn't. He's learning quickly to go to the bathroom outside (doggie treats are magical!) Yahooo! No more cleaning pee and poop off of the carpet. I can't even tell you how happy this makes me! He is such a good puppy. Some of his favorite things to do are steal our socks when he thinks we're not looking, take naps with Jimmy in the morning and afternoon, eat treats, chew on anything that he can sink his teeth into and last but probably his favorite....drink water from Jimmy's mouth...yes it is disgusting but the two of them seem to enjoy it so much. ha ha.

I'm enjoying my job. I'm learning a lot and I appreciate that because it leaves little room for boredom. I'll post more pictures this weekend. I haven't had a chance to download them off of my camera yet. Oh, some other news...my sister Samantha and her husband John had a baby girl this week. Her name is Abbey Marie and she is beautiful.

Our New Little Addition

Hello from Alabama! There is so much to catch up on. We moved into our house on Fort Rucker the first part of January. We got lucky and ended up with a four bedroom house and we love it! On Martin Luther King Jr. Day Jimmy injured his knee playing touch football. He pretty much tore every ligament possible and will be having surgery this week. He has been pulled from flight school until he makes a full recovery. The surgeon who will be doing the operation thinks recovery will take 6 to 9 months. Looks like "sweet home Alabama" will be our sweet home for a little longer than we first anticipated. Good thing we are so in love and like it here. Over the past few weeks Jimmy has taken advantage of the time he has to watch movies, play guitar hero, and sleep in. Last weekend he decided that he has so much free time that he could learn to play a real guitar. We bought a beginner guitar and ever since Jimmy has been trying to teach himself with a little online assistance. He's pretty dedicated and seems to really be enjoying it.

As for me, I got a job! Yahoo. I will admit however that I am excited but it really is bitter-sweet. We had the ideal situation for a while. Newlywed, home all day together...how can life get any better?! We decided that reality would hit sooner or later and so I went on the job hunt. I was told by several people that finding a job in this area was difficult and so I was surprised that something turned up so quickly. Amazing how things work out. I really feel like it was a blessing, I found the place on "accident" and it is a perfect fit for me. I started last week as an optometric technician. I'm pretty excited about it and it seems like I will have an opportunity to learn a lot. The doctor that I work with is wonderful, I get to wear scrubs to work everyday, I am making over minimum wage (which is a rarity around here) and I only work half days on Friday....pretty great arrangement if you ask me.

Now on to the really exciting news. We finally have our puppy!! He is so little and sweet and cuddly. We drove four hours to Conyers, Georgia where we picked him up in a parking lot behind Burger King. It kind of felt like an illegal puppy pick-up operation. We named him Urubu...it's a portugese name that mean vulture but that's not why we named him that...it's just fun to say and we liked it. You can call him Boo for short. He is super playful and plays hard until he can't play anymore and then he sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. In the day that we have had him we have learned that he is very determined. Today we left for church and put a gate up to keep him in his room...when we came home the gate was knocked down and he was roaming the house like he had been there for years. I say he's determined because it had to have taken some serious time and effort for this little runt to push the gate out the way he did. He loves to be held, to cuddle and to give kisses. We love him already. Here are a few pictures.
