Odds and Ends

Here it is...our house at Fort Rucker. The outside isn't much to look at but we love it and it feels like home.

This little guy sits outside our window in the morning and sings and sings and sings. It's so pretty and I love waking up to it.

The weather in Alabama is warming up and I guess with that comes natural disasters such as tornadoes. I was at work on Thursday when my boss told us all we could go home because a tornado warning had been issued. I didn't think anything of it; the weather outside looked just like any regular old rainstorm. When I got home the rain started to get heavier and then the sirens at Fort Rucker started going off. (If you have never experienced sirens it's kind of eery.) The sirens sounded for at least an hour if not longer and it wasn't until later that we found out just how badly everything got hit in Enterprise. We live on post about 5 miles from Enterprise. My work is about 2 miles from where the tornado hit the high school and killed 8 people. You can click on the following link to see pictures and videos: http://www,dothaneagle.com I'm not sure how long the information will be on there but as for now you can look at videos and photos of the damage. Jimmy and I are fine and since then the weather has been beautiful. There are volunteer projects going on all around the city. They have set up blood banks all over post and the elders quorum in our ward is meeting to help with clean-up this afternoon. We haven't seen the destruction first hand; however, from the pictures it looks like there is a lot to do and a lot of people without their homes.

As for some good news.... Jimmy's knee is getting better every day. He got his stitches out and is now able to lift his leg and bend it with more ease. He's also to the point where he can drive by himself. Three more weeks and he'll be able to put some weight on it again.

This used to be the only way Jimmy could go outside. His foot had to constantly be elevated or his toes would turn purple. We would sneak him out onto the camping chair when the weather was warm enough. (Sorry it's sideways, I still haven't figured that one out.)
Boo is growing, growing, growing. He is so playful and sooo curious. This is one of his most favorite spots. He loves to take naps with Jimmy. In the morning after I let him out he sits at our bedroom door and whines until I let him in to give Jimmy kisses and then after a while he nestles up and sleeps like this.

Notice the red collar? When we got him this would have fit over him at least three times. He finally fits into it! Yahoo!

Jimmy's parents will be here on Tuesday or Wednesday. We're really looking forward to some familiar faces. It sounds like there's a possiblity that we may go to Tampa for the MLB spring training. We're super excited and can't wait for them to get here.

I met with some of the military wives on post last Tuesday. Every month our ward does a little get together. They call it a recipe swap. There's always a theme and everyone brings some sort of food to go along with the theme and then we share the recipes and play games. It's meant to be a get together so we can all get to know each other. I really enjoyed it. It's nice to know that there are some girls my age around and it makes it a lot easier to get to know them.
Here are some updated pictures. We love you all and miss you. Write, call or just stop by. (hee hee)

I bet you'll all be glad when we have kids so you can see pictures of people and not just our puppy huh? ha ha.
