Stars, Stripes & Total Chaos

I am a slacker! We have a new addition to our family and I have not properly introduced her yet. So...drum roll please....

Here she is our little Ashes. She is feisty and rowdy and can defnitely hold her own. She is a miniature schnauzer just like Boo. She has gigantic ears that stick almost all the way up and she is just irresistably cute.

Boo has never been happier (see the grin) They love each other and play non-stop. Ashes likes to follow Boo wherever he goes, she has even picked up some of his naughty little habits (hooray for us!) Boo has learned that Ashes can't jump up onto things yet, so when he needs a break he hops on the couch or the bed and taunts her as she tries to get where he is at. Needless to say we have plenty of entertainment.

The humidity has hit Alabama and we feel like we should take 50 showers a day...we don't but we feel like we should. ha ha. Jimmy's knee is doing great!! He has an appointment with the flight surgeon on the 20th and hopefully at that time he will get an up-slip. (Meaning he will be able to get back into flight school). He's excited about the flying part, just not the studying. Who can blame him?
They had some static displays of helicopters on the 4th and then our friends William and Josy Basel invited us to William's family day so here are a few pictures of helicopters. It was really fun because we were able to climb in and look around.

For the 4th of July we had an exciting adventure. I have learned that when a group of grown men get together the child in them comes out raging. Jimmy and William bought a bunch of fireworks and we got together with a bunch of friends to light them. Of course they started shooting roman candles at each other (who wouldn't) and then something exciting happened...Jimmy shot one at two full bags of fireworks (yes I said two as in dos, dois, mucho bags of fireworks). As we all ran for cover; fireworks started shooting from the bag in every direction. Mind you, these weren't dinky snap pop its these were state of the art fly in the air and explode into pretty colors oooh ahhh fireworks. The earth rumbled and children shreeked as explosions of kabooom and fire ripped through the neighborhood (okay I made that part up) We all pretty much stayed far away and hoped that nothing would hit us. Boo and Ashes loved it. Eventually the fire was put out with a fire extinguisher. It was pretty and exciting all wrapped into the same bundle.
