Laie Temple Open House & Camping at Bellows

When we moved to Hawaii
they were just about to close the Laie Temple
for rennovations. We were only able
to attend once before the doors were shut for 2 whole years.
Here we are two years later and we had the opportunity to
take our little family to the open house. It was such a wonderful
experience. I had hoped that it would make an impression
on Madeline, even though she is so small and it did.
She still talks about it and asks me frequently if we are going
to the temple or if we can live at the temple. I even hear her playing
with her dolls or the dogs and they pretend to go to the temple.
It is absolutely beautiful inside and out. It really looks amazing.
I am so thankful that we could go as a family and have
a little opportunity to take our little ones and show them
the temple. I am constantly amazed at how much
Heavenly Father loves His children. I am
so grateful that we can be an eternal family.

After the temple open house we headed over to
Bellows Air Force Base to go camping.
I love Bellows. It is absolutely beautiful over there and
so peaceful and calm.
We got there kind of late and forgot to bring flashlights so
we improvised with car headlights for a while. We
made tinfoil dinners and roasted marshmallows.
Madeline and Jimmy probably ate 40 marshmallows between
the two of them (mostly Jimmy).

Potty training has it's adventures.
We took Madeline to the bathroom probably 10 times because
she said she needed to go potty. Well, every single time
we would get up there and she wouldn't go. Finally Jimmy
just told her if she had to go to just go on the ground.
I'm pretty sure he was kidding....
Next thing we knew she was squatting and pooping by the car.
Oh, the joys of potty training.
At least now we know that it will be no problem
taking her camping to a place where they don't have bathrooms.

Lucas loved sleeping in the tent.
He rolled around and cuddled up in all of the blankets.
Just love those baby blues.

The next morning we went out to the beach to see the sunrise.
We were all still in our pajamas and didn't plan on getting
in the water at the moment but nothing is really what you
plan with a two year old.

Lucas has been to the beach several times but I have
always been careful to not let him eat the sand...
until now....

What a FUN and WONDERFUL weekend.

madeline

My little Madeline is growing up.

She is such a sweetheart and it has been so fun to watch her learn and grow. Right now some of her favorite things are: dinosaurs, princesses, and trains. She loves to have mommy put on music so she can dance. She is really into girly things and loves to have her hair done pretty. She likes mom to put makeup on her, especially on her lips. She is potty trained and doing awesome. She still loves the beach, the water, and the zoo. She is currently obsesed with the puppies. She thinks she needs them on a leash all day long in the house so she can walk them and force them to stay by her side. She always wants to exercise with mom or make bread. She loves to eat dough...cookie dough, bread dough...you name it. She loves Lucas. She likes to make him laugh. She always asks us for a sister. She loves it when Daddy catched geckos for her. She will hold them and let them run up her arms. She loves to go to Waikele for shaved ice and to ride the trolley. She loves pretty shoes or any new shoes for that matter. She is so smart and I constantly am wondering how she learns some things. She is speaking in complete sentences and it truly is amazing to me. She says some pretty funny things...here are a few:

"Mom, I have poop stuck in my nose." (refering to smelling a toot)

She told me that hard boiled eggs have cheese on the inside and that green olives are stuffed with hotdogs.

After eating a big plate full of spaghetti she looked up and said, "mommy you're a good cooker."

On a daily basis she will sit down with you and put her hand on your knee and ask,"so, how was your day?" or "so, how was your meeting."

"mommy Lucas is talking to you." (mommy: what did he say?) "baa baa baba."

"You love me?"

"Daddy, are you Santa Claus?"

Whenever we see anything that has to do with Christmas she will say, "There's Christmas in here."

"Lucas is scared of Santa Claus, he went AHHHH!"

"Mommy, you're my best friend."

Refering to buying me and Jimmy a Christmas present she said, "okay, you like tigers and rhinos?"

She has really gotten into pretending to be a dog, so much so that we will catch her peeing outside periodically...nice.

We told her that she had to ask Santa Claus for the things she wants for Christmas, after seeing him she wondered where her presents were. Guess she assumed if she asked for them she would get them that instant.

She will constantly tell us that Ashes is her sweetheart.

I sure do love my Madeline. She makes me laugh on a daily basis and her sweetness makes me smile. She has been such a blessing. It just makes me so sad that she is growing up so fast. I wish I could freeze my kids in time and keep them little for a bit longer.

Lucas 8 months

At 8 months old Lucas is all over the place.
He has the army crawl down so well that I wonder
if he will ever learn to crawl. He can go just about anywhere
he wants by scooting on his tummy and he can get there fast.
Lucas is still as happy as can be. He loves attention and loves
to play and to be played with. He especially loves it when
Madeline plays with him. He smiles and laughs so easily.
He is a great eater. He often refuses to take a bottle so we have
introduced the sippy and he has started eating foods other than baby
food. He is sleeping good. His two top teeth are coming in and
he looks like a little vampire baby.
He is still so sweet and happy. Time seems to be passing
too quickly. He is growing up so fast.

halloween

Our ward had a Halloween party on the 30th so we
counted that as our Halloween festivities for this year
since the 31st landed on Sunday.
It was a lot of fun. I can say that because the Primary
was in charge of it and we did a great job. ha ha.
Me, Jimmy, and Lucas dressed up as elephants and
little Madeline went as Tinkerbell.

The kids were playing musical pumpkins and Madeline

to shake her booty.

Holidays this year have been so much fun.
Madeline has been so excited about everything and
little Lucas is just happy to be happy.

We decided to do it the "old fashioned" way and
not use any of the fancy schmancy templates.

Madeline wasn't too sure about the guts.

So happy with her finished product.
