4th of July 2012

We had a great 4th of July.
The day started with Jimmy playing the annual game of
fourth of July flag football with the guys from our ward.

Afterwards, we headed over to our friends the Mouritsen's for a
BBQ.  We were joined by the Peraltas, Yates, Aphonephongs, and Harkers.
We ate lots of patriotic food and the kids played for a while.

They had a lot of fun with the sidewalk chalk.
Madeline was covered in a matter of seconds.
I think she looked SO  CUTE!
So very patriotic.

My handsome boys.

Jonas getting in on the sidewalk chalk too.

Madeline & Moani
After the BBQ we headed up to Schofield Barracks for the carnival, concerts and fireworks.
It was AWESOME.

Madeline, Lucas, Edge & Ridge

So, we lost Lucas twice in this ginormous crowd of thousands of people.
I think next year I will put my children on leashes...seriously.
I had two heart attacks and don't think I can handle anymore.
The first time we were talking to a lady over at the pony rides and he was standing right next to me.
Next thing I know he has wandered off and I could not find him anywhere.  I started running around
screaming frantically "LUCAS!!"  Madeline was holding my hand laughing and saying,  "Mommy you are being so loud."
I tried to keep calm and say a prayer that we would find him and I tried to listen to know where to look but I was FRANTIC.
I was scared and worried.
FINALLY after what seemed like FOREVER I saw him with our friend Joe Harker.  Joe spotted him
with another couple and told them that he knew where Lucas belonged and would return him to his parents.
I was so RELIEVED and THANKFUL...seriously, I was frantic and crying.

The SECOND time we were all sitting down getting ready to watch the fireworks.  It was dark.
The kids were all running around in a circle.  I was feeding Jonas and would look up periodically to make sure I could
see my kids.  Then one time I looked up and Lucas was gone.  AGAIN!  All of the adults spread out and thankfully
he was found...way off to the side of where we were sitting.
He has officially entered the age of wandering.
I just wish he would have chosen a different venue to do so.
I am also  super relieved that he is safe and sound...
I mean look at this face....
Love his boy.
We ate shave ice and patriotic popcorn while we waited for the firework show.
See those clouds in the background?  They rained on us last year and
we were hoping they would pass us by this year.
And they did....

While we waited....

Listened to Hoobastank and Jack's Manequin

Got all snuggly....

And then just as the fireworks started it poured on us.
We were thankful for the giant sportbrella a friend brought.
We all crowded under it and enjoyed the awesome show.

Me and Jonas boy.
The gang.
Hope everyone had a Happy Fourth of July!!!

Dillingham 5K

We did a 5K for Children's Cancer called Run for Ryan.
A guy that Jimmy works with lost his son to cancer and this run was put on
by their family.
We ran out at Dillingham on the North Shore.
It was beautiful.
The kids ran here and there but mostly they hitched a ride.
They were pretty excited about the run.
We went the night before and got them some running shoes.
It was a fun way to start the morning.

Tired.

Lucas was helping Jimmy wash the car.
He sat down for a break....guess he was a little tired.

What do you do when you don't know what to do?
Pinterest.
Saved my sanity one day...and I'm sure it will again..

Madeline and Lua

Madeline LOVES her chameleon Lua.
She loves to hold him and feed him and find him new branches.
She even goes out at night with daddy and catches baby cockroaches for him.
If that wasn't enough, she even lets him climb in her hair....

He has been such a fun addition to our family.

Jonas 8 Months

Oh Jonas.
I sure love this boy.
He is so sweet and so smiley and so incredibly laid back.
He's just awesome.

At 8 months he loves to EAT.
He has started to refuse the bottle a little and baby food.
He wants meat and potatoes.
Or frozen watermelon...

When he eats he occasionally does this funny thing where he rubs his nose all over.....
it makes everything especially messy....
He likes to be messy....
This little guy has two teeth on the bottom and one more pushing it's way through, along with four on
the top.  He has been a teething champion and is pretty happy as long as he has something to chew
on.  He has had a little fever this time around but nothing major.  It takes a lot to wipe the  smile off
of this little boy's face.
A smile that has a lot more teeth to it these days.
He is all over the place and fast.
He loves to pull himself to standing and really could walk at anytime.
He will stand by himself but is still hesitant to take the first step.

He LOVES his brother and sister.
He wants to do everything they are doing and wants to be BIG.
He loves it when Madeline carries him around or when Lucas wrestles with him.

He LOVES Baby Signing Time.
He gets so excited.  It's so fun to watch him watch it.
He ALWAYS climbs up to the entertainment center to watch really close.
He really likes Laundry day....glad someone does!
He really is super sweet and still goes to bed like an angel.
He suddenly LOVES the water and gets super super excited about the beach and the
bathtub.  He loves grapes and watermelon.  He also just learned to drink
from a sippy cup but loves it mostly so he can chew on it.
He laughs and giggles and sings along when he hears music.
He's huge. He is wearing 18 month clothes.
He gets so sweaty.  Lately I only put him in a diaper at night because he would
wake up all sweaty.  That's a first for our kids.
He's curious and loves to play cars with Lucas.
He likes to drum things and is really good at digging in the sand.

He's so much fun!  I love watching him grow and learn.
Just wish he would slow down a bit.
